Ed Fottrell

Position: Lecturer
Affiliation: UCL Institute for Global Health

Dr Edward Fottrell BSc(Hons) MPH PhD, Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Global Health, is an epidemiologist with expertise in maternal and neonatal health, health measurement in resource-poor settings, community-based intervention research and population surveillance data processes. Ed supports projects in several resource-poor countries, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Malawi. In collaboration with the World Health Organisation, Ed has provided technical support to mortality surveys in Ethiopia and Somaliland and has developed a ‘verbal autopsy’ app as a survey tool to ascertain cause of death in settings that lack death registration. Ed teaches on MSc programmes in Global Health and Development and International Child Health.
