Helen Brewer

Position: Postgraduate Fellow
Affiliation: Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology

Helen is currently undertaking a 3 month postgraduate fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). She is writing a Parliamentary briefing note on Population Health Management and Big Data.

The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology is an independent office of both Houses of Parliament, providing unbiased evidence based information to MPs and peers. A 4-page briefing document (POSTnote) is currently being drafted on Population Health Management and Big Data. This note will examine the use of medical records and other administrative datasets to inform and improve population health management, and the issues and limitations surrounding use of these datasets.
